Estimated Background (ESBK) Binarization (Benchmark)

For benchmarking purposes, the results and scores of the Estimated Background (ESBK) binarization method is provided. This method is actually a side outcome of the background estimation used in the AdOtsu method [Farrahi2012]. The method uses a double-scale variation of the grid-based Sauvola method powered by a gray-scale nonlinear transformation to generate a rough initial binarization, and then estimates the background along which the rough binarization is corrected. The corrected rough binarization is considered as the output of this method. As the smart part of the code may change over time, please refer to the smart version. The outputs and scores of these methods against several public datasets are provided. Please cite [Farrahi2012], if you use this data in your benchmarks.

    where: G_s is the grid scale, w_s is the stroke width, and h_l is the line height.
