Bleed-through Correction of Double-sided Document Images

The main drawback of ICA-based bleed-through correction methods is that they cannot adapt to spatial variations of the degree of the bleed-through effect. Without an explicit consideration of this effect, these methods suffer from undesired artifacts on their outputs.

The following example, from [Farrahi2009], can serve as a benchmark to test adaptivity of a method to spatial variations:

For the purpose of comparison, Chi-Chen method [Chi2012] has been implemented as an open source code based on their paper. The executable can be downloaded here (35). --- The matlab source code can be downloaded here. It requires Python 2.5 (installed in c:\Python25\), Gamera framework, and Binarize_Gatos_Rough.py (15).
