Dr. Mohamed Cheriet, (ETS)

MOHAMED CHERIET received the B.Sc. CE (Bab Ezzouar University, Algiers), DEA and Doctorate of Paris VI University (Paris VI, France).

Dr. Cheriet's research interests are in Computational Intelligence, Pattern Recognition, Machine Learning, Image Processing, Intelligent Person-Machine Interfaces, and Perception. He has authored and co-authored over 200 papers in journals and conference proceedings, 5 edited volumes, 1 authored book, and 2 patents. Under his supervision and cosupervision, 40 Ph.D. and M.A.SC students have completed their degrees.

Dr. Cheriet is Senior Member of IEEE, member of IAPR and CIPPRS.

Dr. Mohamed Kamel, (Waterloo)

MOHAMED S. KAMEL received the B.Sc. (Hons) EE (Alexandria University), M.A.Sc (McMaster University), Ph.D (University of Toronto).

Dr. Kamel's research interests are in Computational Intelligence, Pattern Recognition, Machine Learning and Cooperative Intelligent Systems. He has authored and co-authored over 350 papers in journals and conference proceedings, 10 edited volumes, 2 patents and numerous technical and industrial project reports. Under his supervision, 74 Ph.D and M.A.SC students have completed their degrees.

Dr. Kamel is member of ACM, PEO, Fellow of IEEE, Fellow of the Engineering Institute of Canada (EIC) and Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering (CAE). He served as consultant for General Motors, NCR, IBM, Northern Telecom and Spar Aerospace. He is member of the board of directors and co-founder of Virtek Vision Inc. of Waterloo.

Dr. Hamadou Saliah-Hassane, (Teluq)

Hamadou SALIAH-HASSANE has been teaching Informatics and Telecommunications at TELUQ since May 1999. He has an Electronics degree from Cheick Anta Diop University in Dakar, a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and a Master of Applied Science degree from École Polytechnique de Montréal and a Ph.D in Electrical Engineering and Informatics from McGill University.

Dr. Ching Suen, (Concordia)

Principal Investigator of Concordia University

Professor CHING SUEN is the Director of CENPARMI, Centre for Pattern Recognition & Machine Intelligence, at Concordia University, Montréal, Canada. Currently, he holds the distinguished Concordia Research Chair position in Artificial Intelligence and Pattern Recognition. He received his B.Sc. (in 1966) and M.Sc. (in 1968) from the University of Hong Kong, and another M.Sc.(in 1970) and Ph.D. (in 1972) from the University of British Columbia (Canada). In 1972, he joined the Department of Computer Science at Concordia University where he became a Professor in 1979 and served as Chairman from 1980 to 1984, and as Associate Dean of Research for the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science from 1993 until now. He has guided/hosted 70 visiting scientists and professors, and has supervised 65 doctoral and master's graduates.
