Professor Mohamed Cheriet is awarded the Outstanding Professional Success Prize of the Excellence Club Avenir

The fifteenth edition of the Gala Club Avenir was held this Saturday, November 4 at the Montreal Gesù Hall in the presence of diplomats, dignitaries, journalists and members of the community. This annual event is an opportunity to award the Club Avenir Foundation's Excellence Awards to members of the Algerian community in Canada who have distinguished themselves with outstanding achievements in various fields. The gala is held every year on a date surrounding the celebrations of the feast of November 1, 1954, when a handful of Algerian citizens decided to fight for the independence and freedom of its people.

Nomination Process and Selection of Candidates
The nomination and selection committee was chaired by Mr. Abdelfetah Djellas. The process of nomination and selection of candidates for the Club Avenir Awards has once again been highly transparent and rigorous. Nominations submitted are considered by members of the Selection and Nomination Committee. The nominees selected in each category according to pre-established criteria are subject to the judgment of a jury for the selection of the laureates

Winners of the 2017 Awards
Eight winners were honored in eight distinct categories. Each winner of the 2017 Avenir Club Awards has received a selection certificate and an original trophy, the work of artist Mehel.

Mohamed Cheriet: Outstanding professional success
Mohamed Cheriet has been a professor in the Department of Automated Production Engineering at ÉTS since 1992. He holds the
Canada Research Chair in Smart Sustainable Eco-Cloud and has published more than 300 scientific publications that have shaped the fields of data processing and recognition, and information technology. He has chaired numerous scientific conferences and acted as publisher of prestigious journals, demonstrating his leadership role in the Canadian and international scientific communities on data processing and green ICTs.
