Importance:
1) Among the works of Avicenna, his al-Isharat wa-al-tanbihat received the attention of the later scholars more than others.
2) The reception of this work is particularly superlative in the period between the late sixth/twelfth century to the first half of the eighth/fourteenth century, when more than dozen comprehensive commentaries have been written on this work.
3) These commentaries seems to have been one of the main roads to understand and develop Avicenna’s philosophy and therefore any study of the Post-Avicenna’s philosophy needs to pay specific attention to this commentary tradition.
4) Kashf al-tamwihat fi sharh al-Tanbihat by Abu al-Hasan Ali ibn Abi Ali ibn Muhammad al-Amidi (d.641/1243 or 631/1233), one of the early commentaries written on al-Isharat wa-al-tanbihat, is an unpublished commentary which still await scholars' attention.
